Position Summary

We are seeking a Project Manager to oversee the successful execution of distributed clean energy projects across Washington and the western U.S. This role includes both direct construction project management and construction oversight via owner’s representative services for solar, energy storage, and microgrid installations.

You’ll lead project execution from engineering coordination through groundbreaking to commissioning—coordinating engineers, contractors, navigating permitting, and ensuring high-quality, code-compliant delivery. You will also represent client interests on third-party construction sites, holding external teams accountable to design intent, performance goals, and safety standards.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, proactive, and communicative individual with experience in renewable energy construction and a passion for building resilient, community-based clean energy infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Construction Oversight (70%)

  • Manage full project lifecycle for solar, storage, and microgrid construction, including mobilization, construction tracking, inspections, and closeout.

  • Develop and maintain project schedules, review and approve budgets, track procurement, and establish QA/QC punchlists throughout project delivery.

  • Ensure contractor adherence to site plans, engineering specifications, and safety protocols.

  • Coordinate with clients, utility reps, inspectors, permitting agencies, and Cascadia’s design team during project execution.

  • Monitor installation progress and flag any deviations from scope, schedule, or budget.

  • Serve as the client’s technical and operational liaison when Cascadia is hired as an Owner’s Rep.

  • Run solicitations, RFQ/RFP processes for clients as an Owner’s Rep.

  • Review and interpret contracts, construction schedules, technical drawings, and commissioning protocols to ensure alignment with the owner's objectives.

  • Monitor third-party contractor performance and produce independent progress reports, issue logs, and punch lists.

  • Accountable for project QA/QC oversight and reporting.

  • Facilitate project handoff from construction to operations, including final inspections, as-builts, and O&M readiness.

Stakeholder Communication & Coordination (20%)

  • Lead or contribute to weekly calls with project teams, vendors, utilities, and clients.

  • Maintain clear, organized documentation including meeting notes, RFI logs, change orders, and compliance records.

  • Serve as a responsive, professional representative of Cascadia Renewables in client, contractor, and public engagements.

  • Ensure all stakeholders have access to accurate, up-to-date information at key project milestones.

Professional Development & Process Improvement (10%)

  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to building Cascadia’s internal project management systems, including templates, processes, and field standards.

  • Stay current on solar, storage, and microgrid best practices, with a focus on field execution, fire/life safety, and DER interconnection standards.

  • Promote Cascadia’s mission and core values through transparent and collaborative project leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project or construction management experience in the clean energy sector.

  • Track record of managing solar PV, ESS, or microgrid construction projects from start to finish.

  • Strong technical understanding of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, energy storage systems (ESS), and microgrid technologies, including installation methods, commissioning practices, and relevant equipment.

  • Strong working knowledge of relevant codes and safety standards (NEC, NESC, NFPA, OSHA).

  • Proven ability to coordinate construction teams, manage multiple project scopes, and solve field issues in real time.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills with a keen eye for detail and follow-through.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP Certification (or equivalent training in construction or project management).

  • Experience delivering projects as the primary Project Manager or as an Owner’s Representative or consultant.

  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code (NEC), Washington State Administrative Code (WAC), clean energy permitting processes, and interconnection pathways.

  • Understanding of DER performance testing, commissioning, and SCADA/control system handoff.

  • OSHA 30 certification or similar safety training.

  • Proficiency with tools like Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Procore, Bluebeam, and Google Workspace.

Cultural Fit & Career Path

At Cascadia, we build careers as intentionally as we build energy systems. We believe in work that is rooted in community, technical excellence, and curiosity. The Project Manager will have opportunities to:

  • Expand into regional program management, senior PM, or microgrid design roles.

  • Priority hiring at our sister company, Sulis Energy, which constructs large-scale solar, energy storage, and microgrid projects.

  • Support workforce development initiatives by mentoring junior colleagues.

You will be successful if:

  • You enjoy hard work and describe yourself as curious, humble, proactive, and resourceful.

  • You thrive at the intersection of structure and adaptability, and can keep distributed energy projects on time and on budget even when field conditions evolve.

  • You’re a translator between field teams and engineers, able to spot technical issues early and communicate them clearly to both clients and contractors.

  • You care about getting the details right and understand that clean energy resilience depends on careful execution.

  • You bring confidence and humility to meetings with regulators, utilities, and community partners alike.

  • You enjoy turning complex checklists and documents into smooth project workflows, and you believe in clear, timely communication.

We believe diverse teams build better systems. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and especially encourage women, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ individuals, veterans, and others historically underrepresented in the energy sector to apply.
